A 44-year-old man from Kolding Municipality has been indicted for negligent manslaughter following a tragic incident at a care facility in Bramdrupdam. The indictment was brought by the Public Prosecutor of the South East Jutland Police and concerns an event that took place on January 31, 2024.

According to the indictment, the accused – who was employed at the facility at the time – was assisting a resident with the use of the facility’s spa bath. The prosecution alleges that the 44-year-old failed to ensure the water temperature was appropriate before the resident entered the bath. The resident suffered burns and passed away on February 7, 2024, due to these injuries and their complications.

-“This is a tragic case, and we believe the degree of negligence shown provides sufficient grounds for a charge of negligent manslaughter,” said Special Prosecutor Bettina Lauridsen Wagner.

The case will be heard at the District Court in Kolding, although a trial date has not yet been scheduled. The prosecution is seeking a fine. As the case is still ongoing, the police have no further comments at this time.
