48-year-old man sentenced to jail: Abused 19 children
A 48-year-old man from Vejle has been sentenced to 1 year and 9 months of unconditional imprisonment for having abused a total of 19 children over several years.
The verdict was delivered on Thursday at the Court in Kolding.
The 48-year-old was charged with rape by another sexual act than intercourse and attempted rape of a child under 12 years old. The man was also charged with attempted rape by another sexual act than intercourse of a child under 15 years old.
Additionally, the 48-year-old was charged with a series of cases involving grooming, indecent exposure, unauthorized photography, as well as possession and distribution of sexual material involving individuals under 18 years of age.
The incidents took place between 2015 and 2024.
The 19 victims in the case were all born between the years 2002-2016.
During the trial, the accused pleaded guilty to 22 out of the 23 charges.
The 48-year-old was convicted of the 22 charges he admitted guilt to and, in addition to imprisonment, was also ordered to pay compensation to the victims.
There was not a unanimous decision among the judges, as one judge suggested a sentence of 2 years of unconditional imprisonment, but the court settled on 1 year and 9 months of imprisonment.
-“This is an extremely serious case where a serial criminal, through many incidents of grooming, indecent exposure, and sexual abuses, has infringed upon children over a period of nearly 10 years. These are crimes that have had significant consequences for the affected children and their families, and there is now a temporary conclusion to this case. I will now discuss with the prosecutor whether the verdict should be appealed,” said special prosecutor Claus Guldbrand from Southeast Jutland Police.
The 48-year-old also received a restraining order from residing near certain areas, a visitation ban, and a contact ban. Furthermore, he was prohibited from professionally or in connection with leisure activities engaging with children under 18 years of age.
The 48-year-old accepted the verdict.
