Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen visited the Ukrainian capital Kyiv today. During the visit, he met, among others, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, and Minister of Reconstruction Dmytro Kuleba. He also participated in meetings with representatives from Danish and Ukrainian defense industries and launched the largest Danish country program ever.

The visit, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marks Denmark’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine in the political, civil, and military sectors. Lars Løkke Rasmussen visited, among other places, a Ukrainian defense equipment manufacturer and met with representatives from the two anti-corruption units NABU and SAPO. He also attended a reception in connection with the opening of Terma’s new subsidiary in Ukraine. The establishment follows shortly after a partnership between Terma and the Ukrainian drone producer ODD Systems.

“Denmark supports Ukraine both in the short and long term. In the short term, it is crucial that we in Europe increase our military support and provide Ukraine with the best cards on hand. Therefore, we are also intensifying cooperation between Danish and Ukrainian defense companies. In the long run, we must help Ukraine with reconstruction and reforms on the path to the EU,” said Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister also visited a technical school that educates and retrains young Ukrainians in sectors considered essential for the country’s reconstruction and European integration. The school collaborates with local companies and offers internships. Here, Lars Løkke Rasmussen met with students and several partner organizations that will receive support from the new Danish country program in the future.
