The killing of a 27-year-old Flextrafik driver at the end of March is now prompting both industry association and union to demand action.

This is reported by dr.dk.

The Flextrafik driver picked up a passenger on March 27th who needed to be taken to a psychiatric emergency room in Roskilde. Along the way, the passenger – a 41-year-old man – stabbed the driver in the neck. A few days later, the driver died from his injuries.

The union 3F calls it a “tough industry” and demands action. Jørn Hedengran, negotiator for 3F’s Transport Group, told dr.dk:

“There is no equipment in the cars except the key to start the car and maybe a cellphone to call for help if needed.”

Even the industry association for bus and taxi operators, Dansk PersonTransport, does not believe that the safety measures are adequate for the drivers when transporting mentally ill patients.

The passenger, a 41-year-old man, fled immediately after the stabbing but was shortly after found and arrested. He is now charged with murder.

Deputy Police Inspector at Midt- and Vestsjællands Police, Lars Krogsgaard, previously stated that the 41-year-old explained that the stabbing occurred as a result of delusions.
