Pope Francis is Dead
The head of the Catholic Church – and thus the head of about 50,000 Catholics in Denmark, Pope Francis, has passed away.
He died at 7:35 am.
The Pope was admitted to the hospital in mid-February after suffering from breathing problems for several days. His condition gradually worsened, and on February 18, doctors diagnosed him with double pneumonia.
After 38 days in the hospital, the Pope returned to his Vatican residence.
Since then, he has appeared several times, including on Easter Sunday, where he greeted the crowds in St. Peter’s Square.
Pope Francis was from Argentina, and when he became Pope in 2013, he became the first Pope from a South American country.
Pope Francis was 88 years old.
