The Queen’s father, John Dalgleish Donaldson, has passed away in Hobart, Tasmania.

This has been announced by the Royal Household in a press release.

Professor John Donaldson had for some time been increasingly affected by his age. The Queen most recently visited her father in March, where they spent several good and meaningful moments together.

In connection with the death, H.M. The Queen has shared a personal statement about the loss of her father:

“My heart is heavy, and my thoughts are grey. My beloved father has passed away. But I know that when the grief subsides, the memories will shine through, and what will stand out most strongly is the love and gratitude for everything he gave me and taught me.”

John Dalgleish Donaldson was 84 years old.

The Royal Household states that it will be possible to send H.M. The Queen a message of condolence via Kongehuset.dk.
