Contaminated Sliced Sausage Prompts Recall in Copenhagen Area: E.coli (STEC) Presence Identified

E.coli (STEC) has been found in sliced sausage sold in several stores in the Copenhagen area.

The product in question is Yayla Dilimli Sucuk with a net weight of 200 grams and a best-before date of 23.02.2024.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration recommends discarding the product or returning it to the place of purchase.

This action is taken due to the detection of E.coli (STEC) in the product. Symptoms of infection with E.coli (STEC) often include acute gastrointestinal infection with diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, and vomiting. Usually, there is no or only mild fever. The illness usually resolves within 5-10 days. In some cases, the infection can worsen, leading to acute kidney failure, known as hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS).
