Crown Prince Frederik Receives Abdication News Days Before New Year

Crown Prince Frederik received the news just a few days before New Year’s that his mother, Queen Margrethe, would abdicate.
This information has been confirmed by the Royal House, as reported by Berlingske.
According to the media, Crown Prince Frederik and his younger brother, Prince Joachim, received the news on December 28, only three days before she announced her abdication to the Danish people in her New Year’s speech on New Year’s Eve.
Thus, Crown Prince Frederik, his wife Crown Princess Mary, has not had much time to adjust to the idea of their new life as King and Queen.
Crown Prince Frederik will ascend to the throne on Sunday when the Queen steps down.
