Man and Woman Convicted for the Murder of a 37-Year-Old Pregnant Woman
On Monday, a 25-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were convicted of the murder of a 37-year-old pregnant woman.
This occurred at a jury trial in the Holbæk District Court.
The murder took place in November last year when the 37-year-old woman was leaving her workplace, a nursing home on Samsøvej in Holbæk.
The child died a few days later.
The 25-year-old man, charged with committing the actual assault, was sentenced to 16 years in prison, while the 34-year-old woman, accused of being involved in planning the murder, was sentenced to indefinite institutionalization. She also lost her right to inheritance and pension from the 37-year-old.
The 34-year-old woman had been living with the 37-year-old for several years, and the prosecution’s argument was that this was a murder motivated by a jealousy-related relationship.
-“Both defendants have denied their guilt during the trial, but the court has rejected their explanations as unreliable today. The police have conducted a tremendously extensive and thorough investigation in this case, which has shown that the two defendants jointly planned the murder, carried out by the 25-year-old at the woman’s request. I am satisfied that the court, with today’s verdict, has concurred with the police and the prosecution regarding the sequence of events in this case and has imposed a penalty that reflects the gravity of the case,” said Special Prosecutor Anja Lund Liin from the Midt- and Vestsjællands Police.
In its sentencing, the court considered both the brutality of the murder and the fact that the unborn son also lost his life.
The 25-year-old chose to appeal the verdict immediately, while the 34-year-old woman accepted the verdict. Both were expelled from the country as a result of the judgment.
