Police Warning: Scammers are calling and pretending to be from the police
Copenhagen Police now warns that scammers are calling and pretending to be from the police.
In a tweet, the police write: “In the last few days we have received several reports about people being contacted by phone from someone alleging to be police. They claim that the person have been the victim of identity theft and ask for confidential information about social security number etc.”
Authorities such as the police would never ask for confidential information via telephone.
The advice from the police if contacted in this manner is to hang up the phone and call 1-1-4 (The telephone number to the Police – ed.) to report it.
Both Danes and other nationalitues are targeted by the scammer.
