Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Warning for Zealand and Lolland-Falster
It might be a very wet day today, as Denmark’s Meteorological Institute (DMI) issued a heavy rain and local thunderstorm warning early Tuesday morning.
The category 1 warning applies to Zealand, Lolland, and Falster, with DMI expecting between 25 and 35 mm of rain within six hours. The rain could be accompanied by local thunderstorms, with more than 15 mm falling in just 30 minutes.
A cold front will be stationed over Zealand and Lolland-Falster, likely causing more intense rainfall. This intensity, combined with prolonged rain, could lead to over 24 mm of rain in six hours in some areas, which is the threshold for heavy rain.
According to DMI’s on-duty meteorologist, it remains uncertain where the heaviest rain will fall. The warning is in effect from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
