Agreement: Copenhagen and Kyiv twin cities
Copenhagen is now twinned with Kyiv.
This was decided by the Copenhagen City Council at its meeting on Thursday.
Back in January, Kyiv Mayor Klitschko approached the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen with a request to enter into a twinning agreement. Although Copenhagen has for a number of years abandoned twinning schemes, with the war in Ukraine in mind, it has decided that it is a way to show support for Kyiv and Ukraine.
A three-year agreement has therefore been agreed with Kyiv and cooperation has been discussed on, for example, cultural exchanges, summer camps in Copenhagen for Ukrainian children and exchange of knowledge in various areas.
