Shots fired near boat carrying father and six-year-old son in Køge
Police are seeking witnesses after several shots were fired over the water in Køge, with projectiles reportedly passing close to a boat carrying a man and his six-year-old son.
Central and West Zealand Police received a report at 5.53pm from a 47-year-old man who had been fishing in Køge Bay with his son when he suddenly heard several projectiles being fired and passing close to their boat.
Neither the father nor the son was injured. After contacting police, the man sailed the boat back to shore.
Police spent the evening investigating the area at Bredden near Billesborgvej in Køge with forensic officers, investigators and police dog units.
Nine spent cartridge cases were found on land. According to police, the discovery is consistent with the 47-year-old man’s account of the incident.
Police said they are taking the report very seriously and are continuing to work at the scene.
“This is a very serious report in which several shots were fired out over the water and came close to the boat where a father and son were,” said Deputy Police Inspector Søren Danielsen of Central and West Zealand Police.
“That is why we will also remain at the scene for some time yet.”
Police currently have no suspects and do not know whether the incident was intentional.
“We have no suspicion as to who may be behind this or whether it was a deliberate act. We would therefore very much like to hear from anyone who was in the area around 5.53pm. Please call 114 if you have information that could assist us,” Danielsen said.
Police said they have no further information at this time.
