The King and Queen to pay a state visit to Belgium

Their Majesties The King and Queen will pay a state visit to Belgium from 8 to 10 September 2026.

The visit takes place at the invitation of Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

The state visit will highlight the ties between Belgium and Denmark, focusing on the two countries’ shared values and ambition for a strong and competitive Europe.

The visit begins in Brussels, where the Danish King and Queen will be officially received at Place des Palais together with the Belgian King and Queen. The programme also includes meetings with the Prime Minister, the Federal Parliament and the Mayor of the city.

The first day concludes with a gala dinner at the Castle of Laeken.

On 9 September, the visit continues in the Wallonia region, where the King and Queen will visit the Lauzelle Forest together with researchers and students from the University of Louvain. The visit will focus on the forest as an ecological restoration project, field laboratory and public park.

Later, the King and Queen will meet representatives from around 40 Danish companies participating in a business promotion within energy and life sciences. The King and Queen will also take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Danish Church in Brussels.

On the final day of the visit, the programme continues in the Flanders region, where the royal couples will gain insight into Antwerp’s development from a traditional port city into one of Europe’s cultural cities as well.

A luncheon reception will also be held aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog, including a sailing tour of the harbour, before the state visit concludes with an official farewell at Dannebrog.

The King and Queen will be accompanied during the state visit by representatives of the Danish Government.
