32-year-old man dies after violent incident at World Cup big-screen event
The 32-year-old man who was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a violent incident at a World Cup big-screen event at Islands Brygge has died at Rigshospitalet.
Copenhagen Police announced this on Saturday evening.
The violent incident took place Tuesday evening at Islands Brygge, where the 32-year-old Swedish male citizen was assaulted and subsequently taken to hospital.
A 31-year-old man has been remanded in custody in connection with the case. He turned himself in on Friday morning after police had previously issued an appeal for information about him. The 31-year-old was later brought before a judge at a preliminary hearing the same day and remanded in custody until 29 July.
Copenhagen Police state that the investigation is still ongoing and that they have no further comments on the case at this time.
Police previously stated that the 32-year-old had been declared brain dead in the middle of the week, but this was not correct. According to police, he was declared brain dead by doctors on Friday afternoon.
Copenhagen Police regret any misunderstandings that the earlier statement may have caused.
