DMI Issues Heatwave Warning: Dangerous Weather Expected Across Denmark

DMI has issued a heatwave warning for the coming days.

In recent days, meteorologists have observed the heat moving closer, prompting DMI to issue an early heatwave advisory. On Thursday afternoon, that advisory was upgraded to an official warning covering almost the entire country from Friday at 12:00 noon until Sunday at 9:00 p.m. During this period, DMI expects an average temperature of 30°C or higher. The warning is classified as a Category 2 warning for “Dangerous Weather”.

According to DMI, forecasts indicate daytime temperatures of around 30°C on Friday, while temperatures on Saturday and Sunday could reach approximately 35°C. At the same time, high humidity will make it feel even hotter.

The heatwave is caused by a pronounced low-pressure system over northwestern Europe, which is drawing large amounts of warm air from the continent up over Denmark.

The hot weather may end with thunderstorms and heavy showers on Sunday evening or Monday morning as a cold front pushes in from the northwest.
