31-Year-Old Convicted of Misusing Disabled Parking Permit

A 31-year-old man has been convicted by the District Court of Glostrup for misuse of a disabled parking permit under Section 174 of the Danish Criminal Code concerning misuse of documents.

The case began when a traffic officer from the Copenhagen West Police observed the man parking in a disabled parking space outside a pharmacy in Glostrup. During a subsequent inspection, the officer established that the man was not entitled to use the disabled parking permit displayed in the vehicle’s windshield.

The man was subsequently charged, prosecuted, and later convicted of the offence.

The court sentenced the 31-year-old to 10 days of suspended imprisonment and 30 hours of community service.

Police Superintendent Claus Stoltenberg, head of the traffic division at Copenhagen West Police, stated:

-“Taking disabled parking spaces away from people who genuinely need them is disgraceful. Disabled parking spaces are established to make everyday life easier for citizens with special needs, and we take the misuse of disabled parking permits very seriously.”

He added:

-“Those who park using illegal disabled parking permits should know that we will pursue them.”

The judgment was delivered by the District Court of Glostrup on 3 June 2026. The convicted man has appealed the verdict.
