An 18-year-old Danish man was remanded in custody for 19 days on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the explosion on Amager that claimed the life of a 31-year-old man.

The 18-year-old has been charged with complicity in murder.

Copenhagen Police stated that a 22-year-old woman, who had previously been remanded in custody for possession of a hand grenade in the same case, has been released. However, police noted that she remains charged. Following Wednesday’s court hearing, five people remain in custody in connection with the case.

The explosion occurred on 25 May at around 6:00 p.m. on Kurvemagerstien on Amager. A 31-year-old man was seriously injured in the blast. At the time of the incident, police said the cause of the explosion had not yet been established.

The following day, the investigation led to the arrest of two men aged 19 and 20, who were charged with attempted murder and possession of a hand grenade. Police also launched a visible reassurance operation in the area involving local officers, mounted police and a mobile police station.

On 27 May, two additional suspects, a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were arrested and charged with complicity in attempted murder as well as possession and transfer of a hand grenade.

Died from His Injuries

The case took a serious turn on 28 May when the 31-year-old man, who had been critically injured in the explosion, died from his injuries. The investigation was subsequently treated as a murder case.

The following day, police announced the arrest of two more men, aged 24 and 32. They were charged with possessing and transferring a hand grenade to the 26-year-old woman who had previously been remanded in custody.

Copenhagen Police have repeatedly stressed that the investigation remains intensive. With Wednesday’s arrest and remand order, another individual has now been linked to the case, which remains under investigation.
