15 Free Concerts in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg This Weekend

There is no need to reach for your wallet if you want to fill your weekend with music. Copenhagen and Frederiksberg are offering a wide range of free concerts, featuring everything from jazz and country to gospel, classical music, choirs and folk music. We have selected 15 free musical experiences.

The weekend begins on Friday evening in Frederiksberg with NATKIRKE at St. Luke’s Church. Visitors can experience a jazz service featuring Sanne Graulund as well as a concert lecture on the life and music of Bob Dylan. The event is free and part of FRBdage.

On the same day, Frederiksberg Municipality invites the public to Swing til Sommerdans at John Winthers Plads. The event features DJ music and free introductory lessons in lindy hop for anyone who would like to dance into the summer.

Also on Friday, visitors can enjoy a carillon concert from Frederiksberg City Hall, where carillonneur Susanne Keldsen will perform on the town hall bells.

At Frederiksberg Hospital, the experimental music work “Vindens korridorer” (“Corridors of the Wind”) will be performed on Friday afternoon. The piece explores breathing, air and the human body.

Classical music enthusiasts can visit Frederiksberg Church on Friday, where piano talent Dina Elena Draugsvoll will perform works by composers including Chopin and Grieg.

On Saturday, a festival atmosphere takes over at FRED:FEST on the grounds of the Frederiksberg Music and Culture School. Professional musicians, students and young talents will come together for a full day of free concerts.

At Aksel Møllers Have, audiences can enjoy a free outdoor country concert featuring Bobo Moreno, Nanna Larsen and Fistful of Dollars as part of FRBdage.

Jazz fans can attend a free gypsy jazz concert by “Arven fra Django 2.0” at Bartof Café on Saturday afternoon.

Also on Saturday, Nørrebro Choir will present a free summer concert at D15 on Drejervej, while Frederiksberg Library hosts the 40th anniversary concert of the chamber choir Musica.

Free music continues on Sunday. At Café Nemoland in Christiania, the traditional free Sunday concerts will feature both emerging and established performers.

At Christians Church, visitors can enjoy a Bach pop-up concert with organist Søren Johannsen at the keyboard.

At Taksigelseskirken in Østerbro, the chamber choir Audite welcomes summer with a programme of both classical and contemporary choral music.

At Kildevæld Church, the chamber choir Terpsichore marks the transition from spring to summer with a special concert.

At the Copenhagen Film and Theatre School in Nørrebro, singer-songwriter komakid will perform during the weekly Cph Listening Room event.

The weekend concludes at Hvide Lam near Kultorvet, where the jazz group Sorte Får will give a free concert on Sunday evening.

In short, there is something for almost every musical taste this weekend. Whether you prefer classical music, jazz, gospel, country, choral music or singer-songwriters, you can find free live music across the Danish capital.
