Woman Defrauded of More Than DKK 440,000
On Tuesday, a 59-year-old woman from Charlottenlund became the victim of fraud. She estimates that she has lost more than DKK 440,000.
The woman reported the case to police at around 2:00 PM and explained that she had been contacted by telephone by a woman posing as a police officer, who informed her that she had been the victim of identity theft.
According to the report, the fake police officer told her that it was part of a major and confidential case and that she was therefore not allowed to speak to anyone else about it.
The 59-year-old was later contacted by another person pretending to be a police officer. This person allegedly claimed that there was suspicious activity on her bank account and that a colleague would help her with online banking.
The woman was subsequently contacted by additional individuals who, according to the report, persuaded her to invest in gold, transfer money and withdraw cash.
The 59-year-old also informed police that a young man later arrived at her address to collect gold, while another young man collected cash.
She estimates that she was defrauded of a total of DKK 444,000.
