King Appoints Mette Frederiksen Again as Royal Investigator

Social Democrats leader Mette Frederiksen has once again been appointed royal investigator.

On Friday, Venstre leader Troels Lund Poulsen abandoned his efforts after Moderates leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen announced that he would not support a minority government consisting of Venstre, Liberal Alliance and the Conservatives with support from the Danish People’s Party. Troels Lund Poulsen subsequently went to the King, who then called for a new round of consultations on Saturday.

After all parties had met with the King during Saturday, Mette Frederiksen was appointed royal investigator for the second time since the election. She had previously also been forced to give up after Lars Løkke Rasmussen withdrew his support for her as negotiator.

Mette Frederiksen will now once again attempt to form a government.
