25-year-old man remanded in custody in case involving serious violence against child
A 25-year-old man from Tønder Municipality has been remanded in custody in a case involving serious violence against a child under the age of one.
The man appeared in a preliminary hearing at the Court in Sønderborg at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, presented by the Prosecution Service of South and South Jutland Police.
He is charged with committing serious violence on 14 May 2026 against a child under the age of one. According to police, the case involves a family relation.
South and South Jutland Police received a report about the case on Friday, 15 May. The initial investigation led to the man being arrested and charged with serious violence later that same day.
Police stated that the child is doing well under the circumstances.
The 25-year-old denies the charges. The court decided to remand him in custody until 12 June, and he did not appeal the ruling.
The hearing was held behind closed doors due to the ongoing investigation, and police therefore stated that no further information can be provided at this time.
