Traffic Alert: Large Parts of Copenhagen Closed for Marathon on Sunday

Read Time:57 Second

Motorists and commuters in Copenhagen should expect extensive traffic disruptions on Sunday, 10 May, due to the Copenhagen Marathon.

The entire marathon route will be closed to traffic from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Frederiksberg, the closures will apply from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During this period, it will only be possible to cross the route by car at designated crossing points.

Organisers also state that pedestrians and cyclists must follow officials’ instructions when crossing the route.

The traffic changes will affect areas including the city centre, Nørrebro, Østerbro, Vesterbro and Frederiksberg, where several parking restrictions will also be in place on race day.

It is further stated that illegally parked vehicles may be removed at the owner’s expense.

Even if there are no runners on a section of the route, driving on the course will not be permitted until the barriers have been removed. Streets will reopen gradually as runners pass through.

All streets are expected to be fully reopened by 5:00 p.m. at the latest.
