Moderates leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen dropped a bombshell in the middle of negotiations on a new government on Friday afternoon.

He now wants a new round of consultations with the King and wants Venstre leader Troels Lund Poulsen appointed as the new royal investigator.

Since the election on 24 March, Social Democrats leader and acting Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has served as royal investigator and negotiated the formation of a new government. In particular, she has been negotiating with the Moderates, the Social Liberal Party, SF and the Red-Green Alliance.

The Royal House announced on Friday afternoon that Mette Frederiksen will be received by the King at 5:30 p.m.
