47-year-old arrested after police operation in Skive

A 47-year-old man was arrested on a residential street in Skive Wednesday afternoon after a several hours long police operation.

The police received a report of disturbance in the home at 2:43 p.m. and arrived within minutes. One person was present at the address who did not wish to speak with the police.

During the initial operation, the man allegedly attempted to attack the officers with both an axe and a knife, leading to a warning shot being fired. He then barricaded himself inside the house.

After about three hours, the police managed to arrest the man using a stun gun.

“Our task here was to arrest the individual in a good and safe manner, where no one – neither he nor our colleagues on the scene – were harmed,” says Deputy Police Inspector Kristian Larsen, who was in charge of the operation.

The cordons in the area have now been lifted, and it is once again possible to move freely on the residential street. The police inform that there will still be investigators at the scene.

The arrested individual will now be examined by a doctor and questioned. It is still uncertain whether there are grounds to bring him before a court for a hearing.
