Attempted murder in tanning salon: Three convicted

A 17-year-old girl and two men aged 22 and 24 have been sentenced to prison in a case involving a knife attack on a 16-year-old boy in a tanning salon in Herning in June last year.

On 16 June 2025, the 16-year-old boy was lured to a meeting at a tanning salon on Fruehøjvej, where he was attacked with a knife and blunt weapons by two young men who were waiting for him. According to the case, a 16-year-old girl had asked him to meet, which led to the ambush.

Police quickly identified the two perpetrators, who subsequently fled the country. In cooperation with German and Dutch police, however, they were arrested a few days later.

The judgment was delivered on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at the District Court in Herning. The two men were found guilty of attempted murder and each sentenced to six years’ unconditional imprisonment. They have also been expelled from Denmark with a permanent ban on re-entry.

The court also found the now 17-year-old girl guilty of complicity in an assault of a particularly brutal, violent, or dangerous nature. She was sentenced to six months’ unconditional imprisonment and must also comply with any decision made by the Youth Crime Board.

“This is a planned and violent attack on a young boy. I am satisfied that the case has now reached a conclusion. Furthermore, I am pleased that the jury followed our request that the two men be given long prison sentences and expelled from Denmark,” said Senior Prosecutor Anna Søndergaard, who prosecuted the case for the Mid and West Jutland Police.

The case was heard as a jury trial over five days at the District Court in Herning.

The two men appealed the verdict on the spot, while the girl has requested time to consider whether to appeal. The men will remain in custody pending the appeal proceedings.
