Library remuneration paid out: Millions for authors and artists

More than 10,000 authors, translators, illustrators and others have received a share of this year’s library remuneration, with a total of DKK 212 million allocated.

In total, 10,082 individuals will receive payments in 2026. The average amount is DKK 21,035, while the highest amount is DKK 778,693.

A large proportion of recipients also receive payments for digital lending. In total, 6,585 individuals receive funds for e-books and audiobooks, corresponding to 65 percent. On average, DKK 16,583 is paid out for physical books and DKK 6,836 for digital ones.

The distribution between physical and digital books is largely unchanged from last year. In 2026, 21.2 percent of the funds go to digital books, compared to 21.5 percent the year before.

Among this year’s largest recipients are Kim Fupz Aakeson, Kim Langer and Kenneth Bøgh Andersen.
