Possible child lurer active near school

Police are present at a school in Holbæk on Friday following reports that a man is attempting to lure children to go with him.

In recent days, there have been several incidents in the area around Absalon School and the after-school program Cirkus Kæphøj, where a man has allegedly tried to get children to follow him by offering them sweets. The police state that the first two incidents took place on March 9 and March 18, respectively. In one case, the man is described as driving a white car.

On Friday, the police received a new report that a man, around 10 a.m., allegedly tried to force a boy to go with him. The report came via another child, who informed a teacher.

The police have since reviewed video surveillance from the area and questioned several witnesses, but have not found information confirming that there was an attempted abduction. At the same time, the police have been in contact with schools in the area, and no schools have reported missing students.

Mid and West Zealand Police have been present in Holbæk throughout the morning with a larger number of patrols in an attempt to locate the man described in the reports. The local police have also increased their presence around the school, reviewed video surveillance, and been in dialogue with the school regarding information to parents and handling of the situation.

-“We have tried to map out what has actually taken place and who the person in question might be, but we have not yet been able to do so. We cannot yet say with certainty what exactly has happened in Holbæk, but it is a situation we take very seriously, and we would very much like to hear from the public if they have any knowledge of the case,” says Deputy Police Inspector Mads Haugaard.
