Far-Right Politician Paludan Running Independently
Danish right-wing politician Rasmus Paludan will appear on the ballot for the Danish general election on 24 March.
His party, Stram Kurs, was far from collecting enough voter declarations to be eligible to run. For this election, 20,195 voter declarations were required, but according to the website of the Ministry of the Interior and Health, the party had only collected just over 1,600 declarations.
Rasmus Paludan is therefore instead running as an independent candidate outside the political parties, which only requires a minimum of 150 and a maximum of 200 nominators. He is running in the Copenhagen constituency, constituency 4 Sundbyøster.
Rasmus Paludan is particularly known for burning the Quran during various demonstrations, including in residential areas with large immigrant populations.
