Copenhagen Nightclub Party Shut Down Due to Fire Safety Violations
Police shut down a large party at a nightclub in central Copenhagen last weekend after serious safety problems were discovered at the venue.
According to the police, officers carried out inspections during the night leading into Saturday and again during the night leading into Sunday. On both occasions, conditions were found that could pose a risk in the event of a fire.
Among other things, the door to an emergency exit could not be opened, and another exit was blocked by building materials. According to the police, such conditions can lead to very dangerous situations if a fire or another emergency occurs where guests need to evacuate quickly.
The case has now been referred to the Capital Region’s emergency services, which is the fire authority responsible for the area.
Police also state that follow-up inspections will be carried out, and the nightclub’s owner risks receiving a fine.
