Attempted rape and deprivation of liberty of an infant: 37-year-old remanded in custody
A 37-year-old man has been remanded in custody, charged with deprivation of liberty and attempted rape of a seven-month-old child.
At around 6 p.m. on Monday evening, a pram with a seven-month-old child was deprived of liberty from Jomfrustien in Haderslev. The South & Southern Jutland Police immediately initiated a search and appealed for witnesses.
Several witnesses had seen a man walking with the pram towards Inderdammen, and the police soon found the pram empty in Storegade.
Around 7.30 p.m., the child was found in a room at Hotel Norden in Haderslev, where a 37-year-old man was arrested.
The 37-year-old was brought before the court in Sønderborg on Tuesday afternoon for a custody hearing, where the judge remanded the accused for four weeks due to considerations for legal security and the seriousness of the matter.
There was a particularly strong suspicion regarding both of the charges brought. The 37-year-old pleaded not guilty and appealed the ruling.
The court has ordered that the accused undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
A non-disclosure order has been issued, meaning that the name, photo, or any other identifying information about the 37-year-old must not be made public.
