73-year-old charged with shooting wolf near Oksbøl
A wolf was shot on Saturday afternoon in a forest area near Oksbøl. A 73-year-old man has subsequently been charged with violating the Hunting Act.
South and South Jutland Police received the report from the Danish Nature Agency on Saturday at 18:47. According to the report, the wolf had been shot earlier in the day at around 15:00.
The incident occurred in connection with the search for an injured animal that had been hit by a vehicle and was to be put down. During the search, the wolf appeared in front of witnesses and dragged the injured animal into a wooded area.
A hunter who had been called to the scene then shot both the wolf and the injured animal. According to the police, the wolf had apparently not posed a danger to people.
South and South Jutland Police have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident. In that connection, a 73-year-old man has been charged with violating the Hunting Act by shooting the wolf.
The police state that the investigation is being carried out in cooperation with the Danish Nature Agency and the Danish Agency for Green Land Reallocation and Water Environment. For investigative reasons, the police have no further comments on the case.
