The Danish Red Cross is now opening a telephone crisis hotline for citizens who feel affected by the current situation in the Middle East.

According to the organization, the situation may create concern and uncertainty – both among people who are or have been in the region, and among citizens who have family, friends or colleagues in the area.

“When serious and unpredictable situations arise in the world, it can affect many people – especially if you have a personal connection to the area. Through the crisis hotline, you can have a confidential conversation with an adviser who listens and helps handle the concerns that the situation may give rise to,” says Louise Jühne Paulsen, Head of Emergency Management at the Red Cross.

Experienced advisers are available on the hotline to listen and support citizens who feel unsafe or affected by the situation.

“We all react differently when something serious happens in the world. For some people, it can bring peace of mind to talk with someone about the thoughts and concerns they are dealing with,” says Louise Jühne Paulsen.

The crisis hotline can be reached at +45 38 202 202. It is open Friday until 4:00 p.m., during the weekend from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Red Cross also encourages citizens who feel worried to limit their use of social media and news, seek community, do things that create calm and a sense of security, and continue normal routines as far as possible. The organization also encourages people to pay attention to children’s reactions.
