Following a historic triumph at the European Handball Championship, all of Denmark is now invited to celebrate the men’s national team when they are honoured at Copenhagen City Hall Square on Monday, 2 February 2026. With the victory, the Danish team has written itself into sports history as reigning champions of the European Championship, the World Championship and the Olympic Game.

The celebration will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

However, the festivities will begin already at 3:30 p.m. with warm-up activities on the square, where a host, music and a big screen will set the mood.

The men’s national handball team is expected to arrive at 4:25 p.m., where they will be welcomed by Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Sisse Marie Welling and honoured on the Balustrade. This will be followed by speeches and traditional City Hall pancakes inside the City Hall Hall, and at 5:00 p.m. the national team will appear on the City Hall balcony.

Lord Mayor Sisse Marie Welling is looking forward to welcoming the European champions and treating them to the traditional City Hall pancakes:
“The Danish men’s handball team has truly written itself into the history books, and I am deeply impressed. This is not just European Championship gold – the men’s team now has a full set and stands as reigning champions of the European Championship, the World Championship and the Olympic Games. It is a tremendous achievement that deserves great respect and makes all of Denmark proud. That is why I hope many fans and families will come to City Hall Square to help celebrate this fantastic result.”

At Danish Handball, the enthusiasm is great following the first European Championship title in 14 years. Chairman Torsten Laen highlights the special moment for both the players and the nation:
“Winning the European Championship for the first time in 14 years is absolutely fantastic. The team has inspired and united all of Denmark in a great sense of community. And when you add that the men’s handball team are also defending Olympic and World champions and therefore hold the three biggest titles, there is even more reason to celebrate our national team. We therefore hope that many fans will turn up at City Hall Square to honour the players and the staff around the team for the European Championship gold.”

A festive, people’s-celebration-style event is thus in store as the newly crowned European champions are celebrated in the heart of the capital.
