Denmark reach the European Championship final after dramatic win over Iceland
Denmark’s men’s handball team have qualified for the European Championship final after an intense and closely contested semi-final against Iceland, which ended in a Danish victory of 31–28.
The match, played at the Jyske Bank Boxen arena, featured high tempo and a hard-fought battle from the first whistle. The two teams followed each other closely for most of the game, and at half-time Denmark led 14–13.
Iceland got off to the better start after the break and quickly took the lead, but a strong performance from the Danish side turned the momentum. The substitution of goalkeeper Kevin Møller proved decisive, as he delivered crucial saves, while Mathias Gidsel and Simon Pytlick led the attack.
Although Denmark had to cope without line player Simon Hald in the second half, the team managed to hold on and pull away decisively towards the end. As a result, Denmark are through to the final after a hard-fought victory.
Denmark will face Germany in the European Championship final on Sunday.
