At a press conference at the Danish embassy in Washington, D.C., following today’s meeting between U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Greenland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Motzfeldt, Lars Løkke Rasmussen said that there is still disagreement about Greenland’s future.

“– But we agree to disagree,” Løkke said.

He explained that the United States continues to want Greenland, and that this position had not been changed. However, Denmark and Greenland had made it clear that this was unacceptable.

He also stated that the parties have agreed to establish a high-level working group to examine options for ensuring security in Greenland – including safeguarding U.S. security – while at the same time respecting the borders of the Kingdom of Denmark.
