18-year-old Swedish man sentenced for recruitment in attempted murder case
An 18-year-old Swedish man has been sentenced to six years and six months in prison by the Court of Frederiksberg after confessing to his role in an attempted murder and attempted possession of a weapon. The case was investigated by the Danish National Unit for Special Crime (NSK).
During the court proceedings, the 18-year-old admitted that, between April 25 and May 1, 2025, he and several known and unknown accomplices attempted to kill a person unknown to him. He also confessed to having used encrypted communication to recruit someone to commit murder in Denmark, offering a payment of one million kroner.
In May 2025, the man was arrested by Swedish police at the request of NSK and subsequently extradited to Denmark. The case is part of an international police cooperation under Europol’s Task Force ‘OTF Grimm’, in which Denmark participates alongside 10 other countries.
According to the police, the case is an example of so-called Violence as a Service, where violent crimes are carried out for hire. It is part of a broader investigation being conducted by NSK in collaboration with the Special Crime Prosecutor and the Copenhagen Police.
The 18-year-old was also permanently expelled from Denmark. He has taken time to consider whether to appeal the verdict.
