Over 100 Kilos of Fireworks Seized – 17-Year-Old Arrested

A 17-year-old young man was stopped in Tilst during the night leading into Monday, driving a stolen van carrying over 100 kilos of fireworks.

East Jutland Police stopped the van at 2:46 a.m. on Tilst Skolevej and determined that it had been reported stolen on Saturday from an address in Aarhus N.

The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with vehicle theft and driving without a license. Inside the van, police found several boxes of fireworks. Although the fireworks were legal, the quantity exceeded the permitted limit of 5 kilos NEM (Net Explosive Quantity). Therefore, the young man was also charged with violating the Fireworks Act and with illegal transport of hazardous goods.

Police suspect that the fireworks may be stolen and are now investigating the matter further. As the arrested person is under 18, both his parents and the social authorities have been notified.
