Closed on New Year’s Eve

On New Year’s Eve, it will not be possible to purchase tickets from outdoor ticket machines at stations.

DSB states that the outdoor machines will be shut down no later than 6:00 p.m. The closed machines will be fitted with signs informing customers about the alternatives available for purchasing tickets.

At stations with indoor ticket machines, these will remain open.

DSB’s Head of Information, Tony Bispeskov, explains that closing the machines is the right solution because it causes the least inconvenience for customers:

“We have to carry out this controlled shutdown of the machines if we are to avoid extensive vandalism that could put the machines out of service for a longer period,” he says.

According to DSB, a new ticket machine costs DKK 250,000.

Around New Year 2007/2008, which was the last time before DSB began closing the machines, 47 machines were vandalized.

DSB expects the ticket machines to reopen during the course of January 1.
