City May Void Address Move: Sikandar Siddique at Risk of Losing Council Seat
Copenhagen Municipality has announced plans to annul Sikandar Siddique’s official address registration in the city, a move that could cost him his seat on the City Council (Borgerrepræsentationen).
This is reported by bt.dk, based on a public records request revealing a letter sent to the politician, who was elected to the council during the municipal elections in November.
Sikandar Siddique, leader of the party Frie Grønne, registered an address in Copenhagen in early September—just over two months before the election—while his family remained in Herlev Municipality.
According to the civil registry, Siddique has not sufficiently proven that he actually moved to Copenhagen.
Siddique is a former member of the Danish Parliament, where he was elected for The Alternative in June 2019. Following internal disagreements, he left the party and later founded Frie Grønne, which he represented until November 1, 2022.
