Three Rescued from Apartment Fire as Firefighters Respond to Numerous Incidents
The Greater Copenhagen Fire Department responded on Friday to a series of incidents throughout the day and evening, including fires, traffic accidents, and minor pollution.
The day began dramatically at 09:44, when a severe fire broke out in an apartment on Virkefeltet. Three individuals were rescued using a ladder and smoke diving and handed over to the emergency medical services. The fire was contained and extinguished using CAFS and high-pressure hoses, and an inspection was carried out to check for any fire spread. An assembly point for evacuees was established in cooperation with the police, and damage control services were called in to assess the building’s condition.
Later in the morning, at 11:31, the fire department responded to a reported building fire on Bispebjerg Bakke. However, it turned out to be food that had burned, and the site was handed over to on-site maintenance staff.
The afternoon saw several traffic accidents. At 13:58, the department was called to an accident on Bogholder Allé involving two parties. They assisted with cleanup and securing the scene, which was subsequently handed over to the police and emergency services. Shortly after, at 14:23, an inspection of an electrical installation was carried out on Lyrskovgade after sparks had been observed. The power was disconnected on site.
A more serious accident occurred at 14:55 on the Amager Motorway involving five vehicles. The scene was secured, and the roadway was cleared before the case was handed over to the authorities.
At 15:39, the department was dispatched to the Holbæk Motorway following another traffic accident, this time involving two parties. The damaged vehicles and debris were removed, and the site was handed over to the police.
In the evening, at 17:04, a fire alarm was triggered on Kristianiagade due to a fire in a cooking pot. The fire was extinguished with a fire blanket before the fire department arrived.
Later, at 21:26, an alert was raised regarding minor pollution on Amager Strandvej, where a truck had collided with a traffic island, causing a leak from its fuel tank. The department used absorbent materials to stop the spill, and the case was handed over to the City of Copenhagen and the police.
The day concluded with a dispatch at 23:31 to Sognegårds Allé, where a van was on fire. The fire was extinguished using two high-pressure hoses and foam, and the scene was subsequently handed over to the police.
