SF breaks 100-year tradition as Sisse Marie Welling becomes Copenhagen’s new Lord Mayor

SF’s Sisse Marie Welling will become the new Lord Mayor of Copenhagen.
Although the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten) became the largest party in the municipal election, the Socialist People’s Party (SF – Socialistisk Folkeparti) succeeded in securing the lord mayoralty through an agreement with, among others, the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten) and the Conservative People’s Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti).
It is a historic shift, as the Social Democrats (Socialdemokratiet) have held a firm grip on the lord mayor’s office in the capital for more than 100 years.
