Lars Gaardhøj Appointed Chair of the Regional Council in Region Østdanmark
As part of the coalition agreement for the new Region Østdanmark (Region East Denmark), Lars Gaardhøj of the Social Democrats has been appointed chair of the regional council.
-“I am both happy and proud that so many parties have shown their trust in me, and I want to acknowledge the broad coalition that is willing to take responsibility for the healthcare reform and Region East Denmark. We must succeed in creating a more accessible, cohesive, and fair healthcare system. I look forward to working with the six health councils, where, together with the municipalities, we will ensure healthcare services close to citizens in all areas of the region. I am pleased with what we have achieved so far, and now I look forward to getting started,” says Lars Gaardhøj (A).
The coalition agreement is backed by the Social Democrats, the Conservative People’s Party, the Liberal Party (Venstre), the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten), the Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre), and the Moderates, who together hold 32 of the new regional council’s 47 seats.
Region Østdanmark is the new super-region formed by the merger of Region Hovedstaden (the Capital Region of Denmark) and Region Sjælland (Region Zealand).
