Russian Ambassador on Denmark’s Purchase of Long-Range Weapons: “Pure Madness”

The Russian ambassador has today issued a statement concerning Denmark’s decision to acquire offensive long-range precision weapons.

The Russian ambassador to Denmark, Vladimir Barbin, criticizes the Danish government’s decision to purchase offensive long-range precision weapons.

He refers to Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s and Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen’s justifications for the acquisition as “pure madness.”

According to Barbin, it is unusual and dangerous for a government to publicly consider threatening a nuclear power.

The ambassador argues that such public statements “will undoubtedly be taken into consideration” by Russia. He concludes that Denmark, with this stance, is not only contemplating the possibility of a direct military confrontation with Russia but is also actively preparing for such a scenario.
