The Frederiksberg Museums have temporarily closed the historical museum Bakkehuset following the discovery of mold in several areas of the building.

The closure is to protect employees, guests, and the museum’s exhibits while further investigations of the indoor climate are conducted.

According to the director of the Frederiksberg Museums, Christine Buhl Andersen, the decision was made as a precautionary measure:
“We have chosen to temporarily close Bakkehuset while we conduct further investigations of the indoor climate. Our main concern is to protect our employees, guests, and exhibits.”

The museum will remain closed until experts determine that it is safe to reopen. In the meantime, the Frederiksberg Museums will provide ongoing updates to employees, partners, and the public about the situation. Ticket holders and partners will also be contacted directly.

Bakkehuset is Frederiksberg’s oldest house and currently serves as a museum focusing on the life, literature, and culture of the Golden Age. In the early 19th century, the house was the home of Kamma and Knud Rahbek and a gathering place for renowned cultural figures such as Adam Oehlenschläger, H.C. Andersen, H.C. Ørsted, and B.S. Ingemann.
