A broad political agreement earlier this year has led to the creation of 800 new English-language study places within the STEM and IT fields, where demand for skilled graduates is high. The places have now been distributed among educational institutions across the country.

The initiative aims to make it possible for institutions outside Denmark’s two largest cities, Aarhus and Copenhagen, to attract more international students to programs in areas with strong job prospects. The decision follows the reform of academy profession and professional bachelor’s degree programs.

The new study places will be established in fields such as engineering, robotics, and maritime technology, with the expectation that graduates will help meet labor market needs.

Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund, welcomed the agreement on the distribution:
“I am very pleased that we have agreed on the allocation of 800 new English-language study places. This creates opportunities to recruit more talented international students to areas where businesses are in urgent need of skilled workers. International students bring new ideas and perspectives, and now they will have better opportunities to train as engineers, robotics specialists, and marine engineers across the country,” she said.
