Pedagogue sentenced: Had sex with intellectually disabled resident at housing facility
A male 46-year-old social pedagogue was sentenced today by the Court in Sønderborg to 10 months of unconditional imprisonment and was deprived of the right to work as a social pedagogue until further notice.
This was announced by the South Jutland Police in a press release.
The 46-year-old social pedagogue was accused of exposing a mentally disabled female resident at a housing facility in Southern Jutland to rape for over a year and a half, as well as engaging in other sexual activities without consent and indecent behavior.
According to the indictment, the 46-year-old took advantage of the woman’s intellectual disability.
The jury acquitted the 46-year-old of rape but sentenced him to prison for the other offenses, including exploiting the resident’s disability to engage in sexual intercourse.
“The prosecution believed that this was a case of rape due to the woman’s mental state, which the court disagreed with. Once we receive the court’s written explanation, we will consider whether the case should be submitted to the prosecutor’s office for an appeal,” said prosecutor assistant Randi Jensen from the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the South Jutland Police.
The 46-year-old accepted the verdict.
