F.C. Copenhagen wins 5-0 against Malmö FF
F.C. Copenhagen delivered a strong performance at Parken Stadium in front of 34,233 spectators, defeating Malmö FF 5-0 in a match where the home team ruthlessly capitalized on opportunities.
After a lively start, FCK broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Andreas Cornelius found Rodrigo Huescas, who headed the ball in for a 1-0 lead. Just before halftime, the Copenhageners extended their lead as Robert broke free and scored to make it 2-0 in the 43rd minute.
Five minutes after the break, Elyounoussi increased the lead to 3-0. In the 67th minute, Copenhagen continued their run as Magnus Mattsson put the ball in the net to make it 4-0. Three minutes later, Robert sealed the celebration with his second goal, making the final score 5-0.
Malmö had scattered opportunities but were kept at bay by a solid Kotarski guarding the FCK goal. Copenhagen controlled the game until the end.
With this victory, F.C. Copenhagen is through to the playoff round of the UEFA Champions League and will face FC Basel on Wednesday, August 20 in Switzerland, with the return leg at Parken Stadium on Wednesday, August 27.
