Six men in custody in murder case from Tingbjerg

Six men have been remanded in custody in a case of murder of a 32-year-old man in Tingbjerg.

The murder took place on Sunday, July 20 in the evening, where an assailant fired several shots at a group of men on Ruten in Tingbjerg. One 32-year-old man was killed, while two other men aged 21 and 22 were injured by gunshots.

On Wednesday, the police arrested nine men aged 21 to 38 in a coordinated operation as a result of intensive investigation focused on the gang environment in Copenhagen. Following the arrests, the Copenhagen Police conducted searches at several addresses in the Capital Region and seized items that may be relevant to the investigation.

Six men remanded in custody

The nine arrested were brought before the Court at Frederiksberg on Thursday morning, charged with aiding and attempted murder. The hearing was held behind closed doors and lasted until late Thursday evening.

The Court decided to remand custody six of the arrested individuals. However, the other three are still under investigation in the case. They all plead not guilty.

More arrests expected

The arrested individuals are not charged with the actual murder, and the police do not rule out the possibility of additional arrests in the case.

-“We have now progressed in the investigation to the point where we believe there is a founded suspicion that the arrested individuals have assisted in the murder. We now need to clarify the specific roles each played, and we cannot rule out that there will be more arrests as we advance in the investigation,” says Deputy Police Inspector Knud Hvass, Copenhagen Police.

Witnesses described the perpetrator as 170-180 centimeters tall, wearing black clothing and a hoodie. He possibly had a bandana or neck gaiter covering his face. He traveled to and from the scene on a green electric bike with a black battery at the front.
