Man shot by the police
The police fired shots at a 48-year-old man on Saturday evening, who had previously hit a police patrol.
This was reported by the Midt- and Vestsjællands Police.
The shooting took place in the area north of Asnæs around 7:30 pm.
The police were on their way to Asnæs when there was a fear that the man would commit suicide. Several patrols were sent to the scene, and at one point, a police dog unit made contact with the man’s car, which then hit the police dog unit, apparently trying to escape the scene. The police dog unit was then unable to leave the scene.
Another patrol shortly thereafter made contact with the man’s car, and the shooting occurred shortly thereafter, as the man, according to preliminary information, drove towards the patrol car.
An ambulance and a medical helicopter were called to the scene, and the 48-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Independent Police Complaints Authority investigates the shooting
When the police fire shots, the Independent Police Complaints Authority is informed, which has also happened in this case. It is now the Independent Police Complaints Authority that is responsible for the further investigation of the shooting.
